Frequently Asked Questions

General

Is LES a way to gain consensus?
Not really. The goal is to get every one’s opinion. The platform does not dictate what you do with the opinions.
Can LES to used to help decision making?

The operative word here is help. There are often factors that contribute to decision making that participants may not be privy to. Data about participants’ opinions will likely be a, hopefully significant, contributor to decision making process.

Meetings

Are we supposed to use LES during a meeting?
No! Meeting time should be used for verbal or visual communication, not typing. Most of the work on LES will be done before the meeting by the participants without time pressures and with time for deep thinking.
Will LES work for all meetings?
No. LES is designed to encourage participation and deep thinking. It is best used for high value meetings, whatever your definition of high value.
Is LES only for executives and managers?
No. It can used by whoever wants meaningful input from participants.
Does a LES issue have to be associated with a meeting?
No. Organizers can set up long-term issues for on-going knowledge sharing. An issue can remain open as long as needed.

Classrooms

Can LES be used to collect opinions in a classrom?
Absolutely. However, be aware that unlike usual submissions all students will be able to see each others’ opinions. This is by design.
Can opinions be graded? Do you have a gradebook?
Unfortunately, no. We are not built to a teaching platform.
Do you need students' personal information?
Nothing beyond an email address.
How can a teacher manage students on the platform?
A teacher can create a group, be the group manager, invite students to join the group and can remove students from a group. A teacher can create as many groups as needed and have as many issues per group as needed.
